Self-check quiz

Four quick questions you can answer without opening the Kaleo lobby. One: are you playing with money set aside for rent, food or utilities? Two: are you chasing losses from the last session? Three: have you lied to someone close to you about how much you've wagered this month? Four: do you feel irritable when you cut back? One yes is a signal; two or more is a wall. Stop and talk to the resources below.

Signs of a problem

Rising session length that creeps past the time you planned, bets that climb to recover losses, borrowing to fund deposits, hiding play from a partner, missed sleep or work: those are the usual signs. None of them appear overnight — each one has weeks of smaller tells. Writing them down in a journal makes the drift visible before it becomes a crisis.

3

Myths about gambling

No slot owes you a win because it hasn't paid in a while — every spin is independent. No betting system beats a negative-expectation game over time; the Martingale clips bankrolls, it doesn't flip the maths. Bonus money is not free money until wagering clears, and even then it's limited by max-bet rules. Treat every session as entertainment cost, not an investment with an expected return.

4

Helplines

In the United States, the National Council on Problem Gambling runs 1-800-GAMBLER as a 24/7 confidential helpline and chat. GamTalk hosts peer-support forums. Gamblers Anonymous has in-person and online meetings in every state. Call or chat — the people answering have heard worse than whatever you're about to say and will not route your message anywhere without consent.

5

Limits and tools

Deposit limits, loss limits, session timers and reality checks are built into Kaleo's account settings and should be the first stop before you deposit the second time. Set them low on purpose — moving a limit upward takes 24 hours by regulator rule, moving it downward is instant. Cool-off and self-exclusion windows run from 24 hours to permanent closure.

6

Parental control

If a device is shared with someone under 21, lock gambling sites at the DNS level — Pi-hole, NextDNS and Cloudflare for Families all have an 'adult content' preset that blocks the major operators. On iOS and Android, the built-in Screen Time and Family Link settings can gate the Kaleo app behind a PIN that only the adult knows.

7

Where to get help

If play has shifted from entertainment to something you can't control, three paths work: call 1-800-GAMBLER for a trained counsellor, request a 30-day cool-off inside Kaleo's account settings and talk to someone outside the household — a therapist, a GP or a trusted friend. None of these cost money. Doing one of them today is more useful than doing all three next month.
